Toby and aliaskid were working together around Gillett Square. aliaskid was mathematically gifted; Toby was already occupied with time travel as something to be built, staged, tested and lived rather than merely discussed. Their collaboration crossed mathematics, art, technology and whatever category remained when those stopped being separable. That night, on the steps of Gillett Square, aliaskid had an experience they understood as seeing God. It became a turning point in their life and was associated with their subsequent conversion to Islam. Meanwhile there was a Time Machine. Not metaphorically in the sense that the Guild now uses almost everything metaphorically. There was an actual constructed object: a milk float converted into a Time Machine by Toby and aliaskid. At approximately 04:00 on Christmas morning, the machine — milk float and all — was confiscated from Gillett Square.
